Getting Started with Your Brand

How to create a new brand and add your brand styles and preferences.

Brands

Defining your brand settings (for one brand or many) is the first step to creating fully custom content with the Nota tool suite.

To set up your brand, click the “ADD BRAND” button in the top-right corner of the screen.

You will see the below screen, where you'll be able to add your "Brand Styles" and "Brand Preferences."

Brand Styles:

"Brand Styles" includes options to add your brand's name, logo, colors and typeface.

Name

Create a name for this particular brand. Be sure to choose something clear and memorable, as this is how your brand options will show up within other tools’ settings.

Logo

Next, upload your brand’s logo. Below are some guidelines for your logo file:

  • File types: PNG, JPG
  • File size: <4MB
  • Aspect ratio: 16:9 works best

When you click “Upload Logo”, you will be able to select the file from your computer you want to use for your logo.  Once you select the file, click “Open” within that window.  You should now see your Logo image in your brand settings (pictured below).

Colors

To add your brand colors, just click on the + in the Colors section, and a new color picker will appear (pictured below).

By default, the color picker selects a neutral gray. To edit, click into the color code box and either enter your hex code or use the color picker to select the right shade (pictured below).

Brand colors

You can add as many colors to your brand settings as you want. The first two colors will be used as your primary brand colors throughout Nota tools, and many VID templates will use the up to the first four colors. Order matters!

Typeface

You can select from a handful of Google fonts for your brand. The list is currently limited, but check back for updates on expanded options and adding your own fonts. See and example of the typefaces available below:

Once you select the typeface you want to use, a preview of that typeface will appear for your review (pictured below).

Brand Preferences:

"Brand Preferences" includes options to add your brand's output settings, trusted media hosts and AI content policy.

Output Settings

Within “Output Settings,” users have the ability to set a maximum character length for headline outputs in LETTER and SUM! Select a value between 30 and 120 characters and click “SAVE” in the top-right corner.

Trusted Media Hosts

When using the VID tool, Nota can pull images directly from the article you are using to generate a video.

In order for this functionality to work, however, you will need to add your CMS or content library’s URL. For example, if you are using Wordpress.com for your CMS, the link you would add to your trusted media hosts list might look like this: https://i0.wp.com/example.com/wp-content

You may have more than one source or content library, so you may add multiple trusted media hosts by clicking the “+” and pasting in the link(s). This helps Nota determine which photos are aligned with articles and which are likely ads.

AI Content Policy

The “AI Content Policy” tool allows users to create custom language that’s appended to the bottom of any BRIEF or LETTER output. In an effort to continue to provide industry-leading transparency for assistive-AI tools, we’re making it even easier to generate custom AI policies for your text outputs.

Add your AI content policy in the text box, toggle the “Enable AI content policy” icon and click “SAVE” in the top-right corner. Whenever you generate a LETTER or BRIEF through the dashboard moving forward, your AI content policy will be automatically appended at the bottom of each output. See below:

Once you’re done adding all of your brand settings, click “SAVE” button in the top right hand corner.

You will now see your newly created brand listed under “Brands.”  You may delete or edit any of your brands at any time.

At this point, user accounts for the same publication are not linked. Therefore, it is advised that you coordinate with members of your organization to align on the use of the same logo file, brand colors (exact HEX codes), brand color order, font/typeface and trusted media host(s).
