Troubleshooting the WordPress x Nota Plugin

How to make sure your WordPress x Nota plugin is running smoothly without errors.

If you're having trouble using the Nota plugin within your WordPress account, review the following frequently asked questions below. If none of these options solve your problem, please contact support@heynota.com for further assistance. 

If you're regularly receiving an "unknown error occurred," have you verified that you have a valid API key and your plugin timeout settings are set at "30?"

Have you populated the API key into the plugin? 

You may be seeing this message in your Newspack x Nota plugin (pictured below).

If you're seeing this message, double check to make sure that you've populated the API key into your plugin. For instructions on how to add the API key in WordPress, follow Steps 5-8 in the Installing the WordPress x Nota Plugin article here. Have you populated the API URL into the plugin?

You may be seeing this message in your Newspack x Nota plugin (pictured below).

If you're seeing this message, double check to make sure that you've populated the API URL into your plugin. For instructions on how to add the API key in WordPress, follow follow Steps 5-8 in the Installing the WordPress x Nota Plugin article here. See screenshot below for where you can find the Nota Settings in WordPress.

Have you verified that you only have one version of the plugin installed?

This is a common mistake when a user is manually updating the plugin. First, go to the Plugins page and double check to see if you currently have more than one version of the plugin installed (pictured below). 

If more than one version of the "Nota Tools" plugin is installed, note the highest version from the installed "Nota Tools" plugins (in this case Version 0.2.4). For all other versions of the "Nota Tools" plugin installed, deactivate and delete the older plugin version through the provided actions in the page. Note that failing to do so may result in a broken experience with the tool in your WordPress environment.
