How to get started with Nota's SUM tool to generate article outputs with a summary, headlines, key points and quotes.
Long-Form Text
There are a few different ways to add the text you’d like to analyze with SUM. First, you can simply paste in the long-form text you want to summarize into the text box. This works particularly well for content you have yet to publish. Upon pasting your text into the text box, a character count will appear near the bottom right corner of the text box (pictured below).
Populate Using URL
You can also automatically populate text by adding a URL for the article you’d like analyzed. Simply click “Populate using URL,” paste the link and click “Continue” (pictured below).
SUM will automatically populate the article copy from the URL into the text box and display the character count in the bottom right corner (pictured below).
Character Limit
Presently, SUM has a limit of 12,000 characters for input. If you need to edit or manipulate your text to ensure that the 12,000 characters you want summarized are contained within the text box, you can edit prior to generating your summary. If your text exceeds 12,000 characters and you don’t edit your input, all characters after 12,000 will not be included in the summary logic. Below is the error message you will receive if you try to run a summary that exceeds 12,000 characters. By clicking “YES” SUM will generate a summary on the first 12,000 characters. By clicking “EDIT” you will return to the input screen (pictured below).
