Templates can be used to create new videos that look the same but pull in new content. Managing templates involves creating, editing, and deleting templates, and adding dynamic content such as merge tags for text and images.
Key Highlights:
- Templates can be managed, created, edited, and deleted from the VID Pro start screen.
- Updates to a template only affect new projects, not existing ones.
- Text, images, and logos can be replaced with new content when using a template.
Managing Templates
From the VID Pro start screen, click “Manage Templates” in the top right. From here you can create, edit, and delete templates. Clicking “New Template” will prompt you for a name, duration, and what formats you’d like to support initially.
Building a template is the same as creating a VID with the addition of a few extra features. Updates to a template only apply to new projects created with that template. It will not affect existing projects.
To delete a template, click on the three dots to the right of the template name and click “Delete”. Note that when you delete a template, projects created with that template will still remain, you just won’t be able to use that template again.
Duplicate a template by clicking the three dots to the right of the template name and click “Duplicate”.
Create a Template From and Existing Project
If you are working on a VID project and you want to use it as a template, click the arrow beside “Save” in the top right corner and select “Save as Template”. This will save your current project and clone it as a template. You will then be able to add dynamic content.
Adding Dynamic Content to a Template
In most cases you will want to make your template dynamic. When you use a template to create a new video, you’ll want it to match your brand and to replace content with new content pulled from your article.
Replacing Text
Text is replaced using “merge tags”. You can add these to your text content and it will be replaced when a new project is created. The following merge tags are supported:
Will be replaced with a keypoint from the article.
Replacing Images
When you add an image in a template, you will have the option to mark it as a placeholder image. These images will be replaced with images from the article or AI images if you select the “Generate AI Images” option on project creation.
Replacing a Logo
If you add a Logo media element to a project, the logo will automatically be replaced with the brand logo if a brand is chosen when you create a project.
